Campuses
The Wisconsin Farms Oral History Project currently includes a collaboration among five University of Wisconsin campuses: UW Whitewater, UW Madison, UW Milwaukee, UW Oshkosh, and UW Eau Claire. Professors in history, geography, rural sociology, library science and journalism are represented across the various campuses and each crafts the program to best fit needs of their students and their broader campus. Students can serve as paid and for-credit interns or as enrollees in classes dedicated to the project depending on the campus and the faculty supervisor. Students also collaborate at least twice a year in multi-campus retreats and training camps.
The WFOHP also takes advantage of the unique relationship between the Wisconsin Historical Society and the UW system. Headquartered in Madison, the Wisconsin Historical Society is made up of regional branches or "Area Research Centers" that focus on local history as defined by one or several counties surrounding each ARC. ARCs are located on UW campuses. All five participating campuses in the WFOHP host one ARC. |
